What is the Wisconsin Legion Foundation?
The Wisconsin American Legion Foundation, Inc. is organized as the charitable entity of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin. The Foundation is a 501(c) (3) charitable corporation under the Internal Revenue Service code and was organized as a mechanism to raise funds. Our mission is to provide financial assistance to promote Americanism through programs such as the Oratorical Scholarship Program where students develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States and have a chance to win up to an $18,000 scholarship, Boy Scouts of America, County Youth Government Day where high school students are taught the importance of their local county government and the Shooting Sports Program where participants learn that mental qualities such as being able to concentrate completely on a task and relax under pressure are keys to success. The Wisconsin American Legion Foundation, Inc. also provides financial assistance for Youth Programs, Veterans Rehabilitation including Camp American Legion which is home to a group of handicapped accessible cabins with dining and recreational facilities on the shores of Big Carr Lake for any Wisconsin Veteran who needs rest and recuperation; and Community Service across Wisconsin.
Help us continue to serve...
The Foundation’s service is an unseen battle against poverty, degenerative youth, complacency and lack of patriotism. One way to fight is through meaningful philanthropy – to assist those who have not been fortunate as others. Your gift to the Foundation provides you with a role in the building the future – a role of which you can be proud. We want to continue to better human life through scholarships, help to veterans, and other humanitarian causes. To do this, we need to increase the endowment that provides cash awards.
"Serve in Peace as We Served in War"
Our reach is wide, but there are so many more to help, and the need continues to grow. Without your gifts, donations and memorial bequests, the Foundation would not exist.
With your help, we continue to pay respects to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, by helping their comrades, by caring for and educating their children, and by maintaining the ideals for which they fought and died.
We provide financial assistance to promote Americanism through the programs of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin. As part of the mission to provide service to veterans, their families and their communities, Legion Wisconsin continues to work in these areas of need:
