Veterans Employment Initiative
The American Legion
Department of Wisconsin
In partnership with the Wisconsin National Guard, as well as many state and federal agencies, The American Legion's Veterans Employment Initiative (VEI) assists at Veteran Job Fairs to promote the hiring of veterans.
The VEI also steps in to help the veteran get established in their new position. At the critical entry phase of employment, some veterans may lack the necessary tools and equipment to begin work. Others may need transportation or financial assistance to off-set expenses until their first payday arrives. The VEI supports veterans by providing equipment, tools and transportation as they enter the work force.
EMPLOYERS: The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) are proud to offer the Wisconsin Veteran Employment Grant Program to encourage Wisconsin employers to hire and retain eligible veterans. Click here for more information on this program.

Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac has created a corporate program for "hiring veterans". They desire to hire veterans not only for the skill sets they can bring to their company, but also because veterans possess the soft skills that Mercury is looking for in their employees; leadership, teamwork, comiktment, dedication, attitude etc..
If you feel you are up to the challenge and have the skills Mercury is looking for then contact Kelly Aschebrook at the Menasha Job Center. Kelly and his other veteran coworkers from the DWD Office of Veteran Services staff (DVOPs/LVERs) will work directly with you in order to prepare and assist you with setting up an interview with the Mercury Marine staff who are assigned to hire veterans.
