tag:With the start of baseball season right around the corner, we are excited to share some information on organizing an American Legion Baseball team. Please contact your Regional Director as they can assist you in organizing and scheduling for the upcoming season.
Registration for the 2022 will open January 1, and is done through our national website www.legion.org/baseball. Once you log on and begin the registration process you will enter a user name and password unique to your team as well as designating your base school. The state and national fees, as well as the mandatory insurance, is paid online after registration. Total registration for SRs will be $660 for seasonal, $730 for year-round including state fee. Total fees for JRs would be $352 for seasonal, $402 for year-round including state fees.
The deadline for registration is May 15, and rosters must be submitted online also by June 25th. In addition, all coaches and managers must pass an annual background check administered through Protect Youth Sports at a cost of $9.
If you have not contacted your local American Legion Post to inform them of your intentions of organizing a team, please do so as they may be able to help in the organization process or possibly in fundraising.
Scheduling of regular seasons games is the responsibility of the teams themselves. Your Director and Assistant Director can help with that. Once a team plays at least 10 games they are eligible for Regional Tournament competition.
