"Ride Safe and Free - They are Never Forgotten!"

The American Legion Riders Association of Wisconsin was formed and chartered in August 2000. In it's infancy, the group consisted of a half dozen members. Today, the ALRA of Wisconsin consists of many members covering all twelve districts across the state. Our state meetings are held quarterly. If you are a veteran that may or may not be a member of the American Legion and loves the "freedom of the road" on two wheels (and sometimes even three), then check out our site and contact us. We'd love to have you! What the ALRA of Wisconsin is...In the fall of 1993, the original American Legion Riders idea was a shared dream of then Post Commander Bill (Polka) Kaledas and Chuck (Tramp) Dare at Post 396 in Garden City, Michigan. The idea was to start a motorcycle association that would operate within the American Legion. It consisted of members of the American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion who shared an interest in motorcycling. It was meant to be a family oriented group just as its parent organization, The American Legion. The American Legion Riders is not an M/C, and does not practice M/C rules or regulations. Read more about the history of the American Legion Riders here. Since then, several groups have been formed throughout the country. These American Legion motorcyclist groups all share a common interest...riding. Riding, participating in parades and ceremonies, promoting the mission and image of the American Legion. Also, many of the Wisconsin districts have been instrumental in raising funds for numerous charities, helping to contribute to those in need. Whether it is working together on Veteran's issues, participating in a local parade as a motorcycle color guard, raising monies for a charity or cruising together on a beautiful fall colored highway, the American Legion Riders program has provided a lot of enjoyment for those members who share a common interest in motorcycling. Veterans Serving Veterans

No matter what generation they come from, our Veterans and our Active Duty forces have sacrificed so much to serve our nation in its time of need.   It's our duty to return the favor. We work tirelessly on the issues that impact our Veterans and their families, from health care and benefits, to managing deployments and transitioning back into communities, and everything in between. When a Veteran or family member needs help, we have a dedicated team ready to serve and change lives.

Invigorating Our Posts

Our local Posts are the heart and soul of our Legion family. Now, more than ever, we depend on our Posts to deliver impactful services and inspiration to our local communities. By delivering new tools at the Post level, we are meeting the new challenges that our Veterans, families and communities face... challenges that no one could have even imagined when we were founded a century ago. If you think you know what our Posts are all about, think again. Our statewide network of Posts means you can talk to real people to get real solutions or to just connect with great people.

Programs to Strengthen Our Communities

Using the powerful principles of our Legion family, we have an unbelievable toolbox of programs and services that change lives. Need help understanding benefits? We do that. Seek a place to reconnect with loved ones after a difficult deployment? We do that. Scholarship opportunities for your children? We do that.  And we do so much more. If you are looking for a family committed to our troops (yesterday, today and tomorrow), our communities, and our love for our flag, you have found your home at Legion Wisconsin.

It's our mission to enhance the lives of our Veterans and their families, inspire the next generation of Wisconsin leaders, and promote the principles of The Legion in every community across the Badger State.

Together, we can accomplish so much for those who need us. We welcome you to our Legion Family.
