Operation Winter Spirit - Week 1 Status report

Operation Winter Spirit, our January membership surge, is off to a modest, but positive start. Six districts have improved their standing against last year’s membership totals. As a department we went from 1506 behind last year to 1468 behind last year. We have three more weeks to surge ahead and keep reducing that number. Three more posts have shown growth from last year and are now eligible for consideration for the Post Excellence Award – Milladore 468 (8th), Amberg 428 (9th), and Presque Isle 480 (11th). That makes a total of 56 posts that have already exceeded last year’s membership. The standings after Week 1 of Operation Winter Spirit are:

District 8 / +73

District 1 / +35

District 10 / +33

District 4 / +15

District 5 / +11

District 9 / +9

District 2 / -4

District 11 / -6

District 3 / -17

District 12 / -23

District 6 / -27

District 7 / -41

In the Commander’s challenge to Vice Commanders in the race to get their posts to 100% with all proceeds of the bet going to the Legacy Scholarship Fund, the current standings are:

Vice Cmdr Oatman 95.79%

Vice Cmdr Thurk 92.86%

Cmdr Shappell 92.26%

Vice Cmdr Brisk 86.39%

Vice Cmdr Ruland 76.74%

Our goal this week is to get all districts into the positive numbers. Keep surging forward!

Commander Bob Shappell
