Commander's Communique for May 27, 2010

The Commander's Communique is your periodic source for talking points relevant to the issues of the day affecting the Wisconsin American Legion.  It is intended to be used as a tool to communicate the Legion's message to your members and the public.  Print it out and take it your Post meeting and make sure that everyone is informed.

Memorial Day
As you engage in your Memorial Day activieties this weekend, please remind the public of the true significance of this day.  This is the most important observance of the year for veterans.  It is a time to honor those who served our country, but are no longer with us.  It is frustrating that many see this as a holiday for barbeques and boating, ignoring the reason Memorial Day exists.  It is our duty to never forget and to educate others.

This weekend, I will attend the Memorial Day Pow Wow observance of  Black Hawk Post #129.  Please take part in the Memorial Day activities sponsored by your Post or community.
