Adjutant's Notes for August 7, 2013

THANK YOU FOR YOU PRAYERS, CARDS AND WELL WISHES!

 GREAT NEWS FROM PDC REIGEL:

"Last week I had some additional tests. We got the results back and they are as good as
they could be. The MDS (Molly dysplastic syndrome) is completely gone, and the bad
chromosomes are completely gone, and the doctor is classifying it as a full remission."

IRS Enforcing 75% Rule on Membership

The IRS has been aggressively auditing Legion posts in some areas of the country and strictly enforcing the “75% rule”, which mandates that the post be able to prove that at least 75% of the members are eligible to be members.  This requires American Legion posts to maintain dates of service and character of service records for all members, (i.e. an actually having a DD-214 on file).

You can review the examination procedures for auditing veterans’ organizations by clicking here. You will have to scroll past the table of contents to reach "Veterans’ Organizations 4.76.26.

The penalty for not having the required proof of eligibility is $1,000 per day.
