6th District Spring Conference
Date: April 25, 2010
Time: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Location: CJ's, Ripon
Contact: 6th District Adjutant Barb Belmont
To all members of The 6th District American Legion,
I wish to cordially invite you all to the upcoming Spring Conference being hosted by my own Cook-Fuller Post 70 of Oshkosh. The Conference begins at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday April 25th and is being held at “CJ’s at the Wayside” just outside of Ripon. Doors will open at 8:00 AM and your paid Dinner reservation includes coffeecake and coffee to start the morning.
Registration for the Conference is $3.00 per delegate or alternate and dinner is $13.00 per person. We do need your prepaid reservations by April 21st in order to provide a count for the meal.
Please consider becoming a delegate to the Conference and representing your Post in the business of the District. It is important that every Post be heard so that we can all share in the thoughts and ideas you have developed through your own Post’s programs and activities. It is your continued commitment to fellow Veterans, Active Duty Service Men and Women, and their families that makes The American Legion proud to be known for “Still Serving America”
As part of the business of the Conference we will also be looking to fill several vacancies amongst the various committees. If you have an interest in serving at the District level, please let me know.
The Spring Conference is traditionally the time we honor those comrades we’ve lost to Post Everlasting. We will again be lead by our District Chaplain in a memorial ceremony to recall and remember those Veterans who have departed our ranks over the last year.
The Department Convention is coming up in July and will be held in Wausau this year and then, at the end of August, right here in Wisconsin, Milwaukee will host The American Legion National Convention. These are two great opportunities to represent your fellow District members and the State of Wisconsin’s Veterans by attending and contributing your time and talents to the betterment of our already great Programs.
I thank each of you for your service, for your commitment, and for your dedication to the causes we as Veterans believe in. We must continue to support those men and women currently in uniform, and those who will rise to the challenge in the future.
Respectfully,
Roy Helms, Commander 6th District Department of Wisconsin The American Legion
